playlist worthy?

I think the downside of iPods is that it enables us to play our music often… which should in theory be a good thing, but it also makes you grow tired of things more quickly. I feel like instead of being that voracious reader devouring books that I just devour my music, tire of it, and grow antsy for something new. *Sigh* I went on iTunes the last few days to look to see if there was anything inspiring that was out that was new. Nothing caught my eye. Argh. Last additions were Tam’s birthday presents – “Let it Die” by Feist and “Challengers” by the New Pornographers. Good good stuff. I was new to Feist, so loved that she introduced me to something new there. That’s what I love… less “mainstream” artists that people have introduced me to via random channels. Anyone have any recommendations? Or on new albums worth the $$$ in general? I need to remix it up a bit here, for sure.

I understand it’s all kinds of nasty outside (three cheers for bringing my tattoo’d lunch, complete with staple – take THAT thief!) and I’m feeling a bit sick-ish today, but I’m not going to put a damper on my evening’s excursion. I’m off to get my hair done. Yahoo! First time in the city. Big step. And financial commitment, as always. Those of you who know me know how seriously I take my tresses. Excited and yet anxious at the same time. To be continued…

  1. I get tired of my songs, too, no matter how much I like them or how much they’ve been able to get me moving in the past. It’s like I get accustomed to them and no longer really pay attention to them after a while.

  2. Just added you to the group blogroll 🙂

I love getting getting my hair done. Hopefully your fabulous new do will make you feel better.

    Sending bloglove,
    Frances

  3. Have you tried Pandora yet? http://www.pandora.com

I got turned onto it a few months ago – you tell it what you like, and it will match up similar sounding artists. I’ve found some cool new things on it.

Of course, half the time I forget to go there, and listen to the same 6 CD’s over and over wondering why I can’t find anything new.

  4. Kerith – thanks for the welcome!

Zan – I know. It’s a bummer. No recommendations that have helped you to rectify?

Frances – thanks for the add =) I had a faaaabulous time getting my hair done. Nothing like 2.5 hours of pampering to properly combat the icky weather and one more work day remaining in the week!

Annie – I’ll have to give that a go today. I’ve tried Launch through Yahoo, but didn’t really discover anyone new. Perhaps Pandora’s the magic solution.

(I could make a reallllly cheesy comment right now, but I’m just going to finish getting ready for work – hah)
