Ok, so I really liked Red Velvet Cupcakery. To the point that I’m making plans now to try out Georgetown Cupcake on my next visit in a few weeks to better educate myself. WARNING! Gratuitous cupcakeage, straight ahead…

The exterior. It’s located right next to Tangy and Sweet, where you can choose to sit down and eat your cupcake. You can also snag a bottled water to offset the mass quantities of sugar you will be consuming…

The “Southern Belle” was their version of a red velvet cupcake. I was otherwise inspired for my purchase, but my friend’s husband indulged me and bought once since they said I had to have a bite. I had no option but to support that plan.

This was my choice, the “Summertime”. It was a lemon cake with coconut icing. It was every bit as amazing as I thought it sounded. I remain firm it was the best of the ones I tried.

This is a shot of their “b-day” cupcake, American yellow butter cake with chocolate ganache frosting. I didn’t get to try this one as we didn’t get one that afternoon and they were all gone later when we rent to grab some for our Twilight viewing. There’s always next time…

And yeah. Warning is they don’t replenish their stock throughout the day so earlier? It’s definitely better!

  1. What's your feeling on Red Velvet vs Georgetown Cupcake? I want to compare. Definitely RV over Hello Cupcake though, in my opinion 🙂

  2. If earlier is better, then I'm telling my boy that we will have to exurse (nice made up word there) in to the city when we come up in August for a breakfast cupcake. Those all look awesome.

  3. Well this place is in DC. Are you going through DC or NYC? If NYC, I can definitely give you recs and they don't run out so early in the day…

  4. Lex – Never been to Grorgetown Cupcake or Baked & Wired. Think I'm going to GC next visit (is it DC's version of Magnolia?) and may have to try B&W the trip after 🙂
